Windamere Hotel

WelcomHeritage Windamere, an enchanting colonial hotel was initially established as a boarding house for single English and Scottish Tea Planters around the year 1800. All the houses on the ‘Observatory Hill’ were formerly British Raj Boarding Houses and are made exactly the same as they were long time back. It was then converted into a hotel just before the outbreak of the Second World War. During the first National Awards Ceremony for outstanding hotels held in September 1994,the Prime Minister presented WelcomHeritage Windamere with an Award for Excellence as a Heritage Hotel of India.

The WelcomHeritage Windamere hotel is split into two wings: The WelcomeHeritage Windamere and The Little WelcomHeritage Windamere. The former, based in the main house called Villa, is furnished in traditional colonial style with flowery chintz curtains and a strict embargo on the intrusion of the modern television or telephone. This wing, whose suites have names as quaint as their décor, includes a honeymoon cottage, the House of the Eighth Happiness and Little Peppers.

The Little WelcomHeritage Windamere has bowed to modern exigencies and while it retains all the traditional qualities of hospitality, its décor is more modern and the rooms have televisions and telephones. Windamere Hotel offers 38 Suites and bedrooms that are equipped with latest modern amenities carefully selected to suit the taste of discerning guest.
